Dementia Awareness Week, taking place from 19–25 May 2025, is a national campaign designed to raise awareness and understanding of dementia — a condition that affects millions of individuals and their loved ones across the UK.

At ReFresh Coaching, we believe in supporting the emotional well-being of those navigating difficult life experiences, including those affected by a dementia diagnosis in their family or support network.
While we do not provide medical advice or diagnosis, our coaching services are designed to offer the emotional clarity, resilience, and support that people often need during uncertain times.
Understanding Dementia: More Than Memory Loss
Dementia is a long-term neurological condition that can impact a person’s memory, behaviour, communication, and thinking abilities over time. Although commonly associated with older adults, dementia can also impact people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, often catching families and communities unprepared.
Dementia Awareness Week invites us all to become better informed, to listen with empathy, and to offer meaningful support to those living with or caring for someone with the condition.
The importance of seeking a professional diagnosis
If you or someone close to you is showing signs of cognitive decline — such as memory problems, confusion, or personality changes — it is vital to speak to a qualified healthcare professional. A formal diagnosis can provide access to the right care and guidance at an early stage.
At ReFresh Coaching, we do not offer clinical or medical advice. Instead, we offer emotional support and coaching for individuals, couples, and families who may be impacted by the challenges that a dementia diagnosis brings.
How ReFresh Coaching can help
Receiving or supporting someone through a dementia diagnosis can feel overwhelming. Life often changes quickly, and with it comes a complex mix of emotions — fear, sadness, frustration, even guilt. Our coaching approach provides a safe, confidential space to talk through these feelings and develop tools to build emotional strength.
We offer:
One-to-one coaching for carers and family members seeking to manage stress, burnout, or overwhelm.
Couples Coaching to support partners adjusting to new relationship dynamics.
Group Coaching for family members navigating shared responsibilities and roles.
Business Coaching to support managers and employees coping with caring responsibilities or workplace changes due to dementia in the family.
Our role is to help you feel heard, build resilience, and take meaningful steps forward — even in the face of uncertainty.
Get involved during Dementia Awareness Week
Dementia Awareness Week is a reminder that none of us should face dementia alone. Here are a few small yet powerful ways to engage this week:
Learn more about the signs and impact of dementia.
Check in with someone who may be caring for a loved one.
Attend a local awareness event or fundraiser.
By sharing your story, you not only raise awareness but you remind others they are not alone.
And if you are personally affected, whether as a family member, partner, or carer, ReFresh Coaching is here to support your well-being.
A word from Simon Robson
“Over the years, I’ve worked with many individuals who have found themselves navigating the emotional toll of dementia in the family. While we cannot control the diagnosis itself, we can choose how we respond, support one another, and take care of our well-being in the process. That is what coaching is about.” — Simon Robson, Life Coach & Co-Founder, ReFresh Coaching
